New World Telecom preps for 100G with Alcatel-Lucent 1830 Photonic Service Switch

Hong Kong communications service provider New World Telecom will deploy systems from Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext and NYSE:ALU) that will enable it to support 10-, 40-, and 100-Gbps traffic on the same fiber pair. Alcatel-Lucent’s 1830 Photonic Service Switch will be the lynchpin of the new 100-Gbps optical network capabilities.

Alcatel-Lucent’s 1830 Photonic Service Switch will be the lynchpin of the new 100-Gbps optical network capabilities.

New World Telecom offers a variety of international voice and data services to its customers in Hong Kong and overseas through its own network as well as via bilateral partnerships with more than 300 global incumbents and major carriers.

Says Johnny Cheung, executive vice president, networks and IT at New World Telecom, “Alcatel-Lucent will help expand the capacity, performance, and flexibility of our network to address the rapid growth in demand for high-speed data transmission, especially suitable for telecommunications, banking and finance, as well as media industries in Hong Kong.”
