Mini OTDR enhancements

MW9070A mini OTDR has a visual light source, a multimode module, a floppy-disk drive and other software features. The light source locates problems in the near-end dead zone of a fiber-optic cable, because the technician can visually detect the escaping light. The MW0973J 850-nm optical multimode module tests and characterizes 62.5/125-micrometer multimode fiber operating at a wavelength of 850 䕂 nm and pulse widths of 20/50/100 nanoseconds. Dynamic range is 18 dB and 10 dB auto mode. Emulation software allows trace and event tables to be displayed simultaneously and manipulated on an IBM-compatible PC.
