AMP Inc., Harrisburg, PA, and Alcatel Optronics in Nozay, France, will cooperatively develop and manufacture opto-electronic products for telecommunications. As the first project under this agreement, the companies are completing work on a bidirectional module that will permit a singlemode fiber to transmit and receive signals simultaneously at rates to 622 megabits per second. This module will replace a laser, detector and coupler.
