BaySpec integrates high-res 10/40G mixing feature for OCPMs

FEBRUARY 25, 2008 -- BaySpec Inc. has announced commercial availability of its 40-Gbit/sec IntelliGuard optical channel performance monitor (OCPM) with enhanced 10/40-Gbit/sec modulation discernment capability.

FEBRUARY 25, 2008 -- BaySpec Inc., a volume supplier of optical modules and subsystems, has announced commercial availability of its 40-Gbit/sec IntelliGuard optical channel performance monitor (OCPM) with enhanced 10/40-Gbit/sec modulation discernment capability.

The bandwidth required by services such as video-on-demand and 100-Mbit/sec Internet are driving 40G demand in the transport network. BaySpec says its 10/40G discernable OCPMs enable "significant operating cost reduction" in the price-sensitive metro core market where current demand is strongest. The devices are Telcordia GR-1209/1221-CORE qualified.

Applications for the company's family of monitoring products include reconfigurable optical add/drop monitoring (ROADM); physical layer monitoring for provisioning and commissioning optical networks; real-time fault detection and isolation in DWDM systems; EDFA gain balancing; channel power, wavelength, and OSNR measurements; and handheld, battery-operated CWDM and DWDM field test equipment for low-cost testing in triple-play fiber deployments. Agile optical networks offer dynamic reconfigurability, advanced wavelength services, and reduced operational and capital expenditures.
