Tellabs says that Polish cable-TV operator Multimedia Polska is deploying the optical transport systems vendor’s 7100 Nano Optical Transport System (OTS) for a new fiber-optic network deployment. The new network should go live early this year.
In light of growing demand for its fixed-line and mobile services portfolio, Multimedia Polska has expanded its optical transport network to support the delivery of new services to customers, Tellabs says. The cable operator, which has used Tellabs equipment in its network for some time, chose the Tellabs 7100 Nano OTS for its “proven reliability and scalability,” Tellabs asserts. The system’s port density and low power consumption also attracted the service provider’s attention, according to the systems house.
"Multimedia Polska has a history of launching innovative solutions, upgrading and expanding its networks to enable the roll-out of new technologies,” added Krzysztof Jaskolski, CTO of Multimedia Polska. “The new Tellabs optical transport network gives us the capacity and reliability we need to expand our services now and in the future."
In addition to the packet-optical transport systems, Tellabs also has provided such services as network design and delivery, which included installation and commissioning. Tellabs also will train and hand over to Multimedia's operational team.
"We're excited to work with Multimedia Polska on its optical transport network," said Roger Heinz, executive vice president-global sales and service, Tellabs. "Tellabs is committed to advancing our customers' networks to meet the growing demand for mobile, video, data, and other services."
Marlin Equity Partners, which also owns Coriant, acquired Tellabs last December (see "Marlin Equity closes Tellabs acquisition").
