High-speed detectors
High-conversion gain detectors offer high spectral response and bandwidth. They use InGaAs, interdigitated, metal-semiconductor-metal technology and are supplied with temporal- and frequency-response curves. A 50-micron multimode fiber acts as the detector input and, according to the manufacturer, provides 100 times more light-gathering capacity than competitive products, while minimizing backreflection. Detectors with ST and FC input-connector styles are available. The D-15, D-30 and D-100 unamplified models are high-speed optical-to-electrical converters with temporal responses of 15, 30 and 100 picoseconds, respectively. The models are self-contained units supplied with two internal lithium batteries. Each unit features internal voltage regulation, a photocurrent monitor voltage output and a "low-battery" LED indicator. The AD-300 AC and AD-300 DC amplified modules have a temporal response of 300 picoseconds and a conversion gain of 200V/W. They are supplied with an alternating current wall-plug adapter. Prices start at $1400.
