Fiber-gain modules

Fiber-gain modules feature fluorolase high- NA, rare earth-doped singlemode fiber coupled to standard telecommunications fiber. Available dopants are praseodymium and erbium, which provide amplification in the 1300- and 1550-nm regions, respectively. Custom dopant configurations are also available. The praseodymium-doped gain module provides bit-rate transparent, polarization-insensitive optical amplification. The erbium-doped gain module offers a flatter gain curve and a broader amplification bandwidth over existing silica technology than does the praseodymium-doped module. Both modules are available with standard telecommunication fibers and connectors.
