Model 1250 fiber-optic Hippi mini-modem provides a 1.2-gigabaud bidirectional transmission link with an 800-Mbit/sec data throughput rate. The modem has a range of 500 meters using 50-micron multimode fiber. It operates at 780 to 850 nm with other short-wavelength Hippi-serial switch and network interface cards. Costing less than $4000 per end, the package measures 3.13ٺ.7ٷ.25 inches.
