OCTOBER 21, 2009 -- PBN, a supplier of end-to-end optical broadband products, will showcase the new LTE153-8000 at the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2009, Denver, CO, from Oct. 28-30.
The LTE153-8000 externally modulated laser (EML) transmitter for 1,550-nm wavelengths forms part of PBN's Light Link Series 2 suite of products and is designed as a low-cost entry option. The unit has been designed to deliver optimum performance for long-haul applications or passive optical networks with regular 1,310-nm fiber.
The transmitter provides chirp-free operation with a narrow optical linewidth. This allows the use of 1,550-nm wavelength for the transmission of broadband cable TV DOCSIS, while maintaining necessary CNR, CSO, and CTB performance throughout the network.
The transmitter is packaged in a self-contained, 19-in. sub-rack housing of 1 RU with dual optical outputs. The device employs dual power supplies to support reliability.
A key feature of the LTE153-8000 is the integrated SNMP management capability. In addition, the LTE153-8000, like other PBN products, is fully supported by the Light Link Series 3 NMS3 suite of software products for managing and controlling advanced optical broadband networks.
