Net Insight receives expansion order from Chinese broadcaster

JULY 15, 2009 -- The optical transport technology developer's Nimbra platform has been selected by a major Chinese broadcaster for a network expansion.

JULY 15, 2009 -- Optical transport technology developer Net Insight (search Lightwave for Net Insight) has announced its Nimbra platform has been selected by a major Chinese broadcaster for an expansion of its media contribution network.

In 2007, the broadcaster deployed the Nimbra platform for a media contribution network between Beijing, Washington, and London to transport video and Ethernet traffic. The network is now being expanded with additional international links to support increased traffic.

The equipment will be delivered in July 2009. Net Insight received the order in cooperation with the business partner CSS, a system integrator in the broadcast and telecommunications industry in China.

The Nimbra platform offers advanced multimedia services in media networks with integrated video and audio interfaces such as ASI, SDI, HD-SDI, 3G-SDI, and AES/EBU, and support for IP/Ethernet and SONET/SDH. It offers high network utilization, multicasting of all types of services, guaranteed quality of service, and the ability to extend the network in pace with customer growth.
