APRIL 23, 2009 -- FiberLight LLC (search Lightwave for FiberLight), a provider of optical services, is introducing LightSource Ultra, a new suite of purpose-built, high availability optical transport services including SONET, Ethernet, and wavelengths. LightSource Ultra, says the company, provides high reliability, performance, and security with "a platform in which to conduct business."

"FiberLight has created LightSource Ultra based on our decade of experience operating optical networks supporting the enterprise, government, and the wholesale telecommunications industry. We realized business segments including financial services, Web 2.0-based businesses, and the government marketplace were supporting highly specialized, mission-critical applications, which have very specific requirements of low latency, ultra availability, and stringent security," says Ben Edmond, executive vice president of sales and marketing at FiberLight.

FiberLight owns and leverages more than 500,000 mi of underground fiber to deliver latency specifications of less than 2 ms, provide service-level agreements at 100% uptime, and offer every LightSource Ultra customer dedicated electronics and dedicated fiber, with security.

"We address the need for a network platform that does not go down by engineering the network to the specifications needed to ensure 100% reliability, to include dual fiber entrances with specific engineering distance requirements, equipment with card and power protection," Edmond says. "Because we own our own fiber networks, we are able to design a solution with the lowest possible latency in our markets."
