19 FEBRUARY 2009 -- NEC Corp. (search Lightwave for NEC) announced today its selection by Albania's Albtelecom to deploy a broadband access network that will leverage its MN Series SDH multiplexers and 5000 Series trunk microwave communications system, PASOLINK.

The deal represents NEC's first European order for the SDH multiplexers. Albtelecom is Albania's leading fixed-line operator, and will use the multiplexing and microwave systems to accommodate ongoing voice and data traffic growth associated with the expansion of ADSL network coverage in Albania.
