3.2 GBIT/S LASER DRIVER

Aug. 1, 2000

The VSC7928 is a 3.2 Gbit/s diode-laser driver designed for next-generation 10-Gbit/s Ethernet, SONET/SDH OC-48, Fibre Channel, and DWDM equipment. With a maximum modulation current of 100mA, the VSC7928 can be matched to a wide variety of laser diodes. On-chip selectable data reclocking provides reduction of the jitter in the input data stream. The VSC7928`s short rise and fall times result in low dispersion penalty for short and intermediate, as well as long-reach fiber communications. Specifications include 20%-80% rise and fall times of less than 80-ps typical, very low jitter of 3-ps rms, and 400-mW dissipation.
