Emcore launches ITU G.695-compliant CWDM laser diode components
March 15, 2006 Somerset, NJ -- Emcore recently announced the commercial availability of 1-GHz CWDM distributed feedback (DFB) packaged laser diode components. Available for sampling in the third quarter of fiscal 2006, the company says the components enable addition of content and services to existing CWDM network architectures without requiring additional fiber deployments.
Aimed at OEMs and HFC network operators, the products' key features include: 1291-, 1311-, and 1331-nm wavelength operation; output power up to 20 mW; high linearity and low noise for analog video applications; up to 1 GHz operation; -40°C to +85°C operating temperature range; 14-pin OC-48 pinout compatibility; Telcordia 468 compliance, and forward and return path capability.
"Our customers are faced with an increasing demand to deliver higher performing solutions while reducing costs," remarks Dr. John Iannelli, senior director of engineering for Emcore's Ortel division. "These new lasers will provide added bandwidth while utilizing existing fiber architectures."
