June 22, 2006 State College, PA -- C-COR Inc. has launched its latest 1-GHz product, the Opti Max3100 Segmentable Node. The newest addition to C-COR's 1-GHz line of hybrid fiber/coax (HFC) products enables cable operators to increase bandwidth capacity on existing infrastructure for revenue-generating voice, video, and data services and the migration to all-digital.
"Expanding capacity on the cable network doesn't have to mean big investment dollars and long deployment times associated with laying additional fiber," said Bill Dawson, vice president, access strategy, C-COR. "This state-of-the-art node, along with our CWDM solutions and entire line of access products, gives operators a cost-effective approach that protects their network investment and economically delivers today's services while supporting future capacity requirements."
The Opti Max3100 1-GHz 2x2 Segmentable Node is the next generation of C-COR's Opti Max3000 Node. The product extends bandwidth to 1 GHz and expands network capacity with full 2x2 forward and return path segmentation capability across a single fiber. The Opti Max3100's capabilities include:
- scalable capabilities for up to twice the capacity of initial deployment with 1x4 and 2x2, forward and return segmentation
- fiber-preserving upstream capabilities using CWDM return transmitters
- extended bandwidth from 870 MHz to 1 GHz to increase forward capacity for HDTV, allowing a 40% increase over current HDTV channels in a given line-up
- status reporting and ingress management using standards-based and proprietary element management options
- optical path redundancy for telephony and data applications.
The Opti Max3100 expands network capacity, allowing operators to support and deliver next-generation revenue-generating applications and additional VOD, high-speed data, and voice services at a fraction of the cost to install additional fiber.
C-COR is currently accepting orders for the Opti Max3100 nodes.
