July 11, 2006 Stockholm, Sweden -- Net Insight has received a first order from Norkring for delivery of equipment to the Norwegian digital terrestrial TV network. The order has a value of approximately 20 million SEK (approximately $2.8 million), and deliveries will start during the fourth quarter.
The frame agreement covers the delivery of 400-700 Net Insight Nimbra nodes over 2-3 years. The frame agreement was contingent on two factors: that the concession for digital TV broadcasting would be given to NTV and that the carrier in turn would assign Norkring to build and operate the Norwegian digital terrestrial TV network. Both stipulations have come to pass. The concession for digital terrestrial TV in Norway was given to NTV (owned by NRK, TV2, and Telenor) in the beginning of June. NTV has now given asked Norkring to build the required terrestrial TV network.
"Net Insight has a very strong development within the area of digital terrestrial TV," said Fredrik Trägårdh, CEO of Net Insight. "We have now delivered equipment for digital terrestrial TV networks to several countries, among others the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Finland, and today we announce the first significant order within the frame agreement for the large build-out in Norway. We have won these projects in strong competition with other technologies and large companies, which gives us a great position for further success."
