MARCH 8, 2010 -- ADVA Optical Networking announced that KDDI Corporation (KDDI), one of Japan’s largest communications service providers, has deployed the ADVA FSP 3000 Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) solution as the platform for delivery of its high-availability enterprise solution called Managed WDM Service.

Several enterprises have already selected this service, and the services have been deployed and implemented. Delivered as part of the KDDI managed services to enterprises, ADVA Optical Networking’s FSP 3000 platform was selected over platforms from competing vendors because of its reliability, scalability, various Fibre Channel interfaces, and top-class certified interoperability. The ADVA FSP 3000 was also chosen for its superior functionality and energy efficiency.

KDDI’s “Managed WDM Service” is offered from the Kanto area in Japan. The carrier’s enterprise solutions network is built on advanced fiber optics and provides 1- and 10Gbit/s Ethernet and 1- and 2Gbit/s Fibre Channel interfaces. Recognizing the growing customer requirement for sophisticated, high-speed connectivity, KDDI implemented its WDM service menu to address the need for multiple protocols within enterprise networks. With the ability to support native gigabit Ethernet and Fibre Channel, the ADVA FSP 3000 platform can transport native protocols across multiple wavelengths, depending on the customer’s requirements.

“We selected ADVA Optical Networking to deliver our primary solution because we needed a highly reliable network,” explains Yasuhisa Yamada, director of the Data Network Product Planning Department from KDDI. “Enterprise customers today cannot tolerate network downtime, and they need the flexibility to expand network services as their business changes. As a provider of mission-critical enterprise solutions, our focus is on offering these flexible solutions with the highest rates of total customer satisfaction. The ADVA Optical Networking platform supports these goals extremely well.”

“KDDI is a world-class service provider with a customer base that expects excellence,” states Hideto Kaga, managing director of ADVA Optical Networking Japan. “We quickly understood this provider’s need for scalability so it could design high-capacity solutions for enterprises of all sizes. The ADVA FSP 3000 platform enables flexibility in design, as well as delivery of reliable, secure bandwidth across distance.”
