AUGUST 3, 2010 -- Cable&Wireless Worldwide says it has won a new deal from Axiata Group Berhad to support its growing IP capacity needs in Asia Pacific. Axiata is a telecommunication company focused on high-growth, low-penetration emerging markets.
Under a two-year agreement, C&W Worldwide will build and manage a new IP-based network in Singapore for four of Axiata's operating companies: Celcom Axiata Berhad (based in Malaysia), PT XL Axiata Tbk (based in Indonesia), Dialog Telekom PLC (based in Sri Lanka), and Hello Axiata Company Limited (based in Cambodia). The company will deliver global standardization and harmonization of infrastructure and offer Axiata services that are reliable, functional, and easy to manage, C&W asserts.
"We see many new customers, like Axiata, are increasingly looking for seamless and robust global infrastructure providers who seek to fully engage with them as partners. We're delighted to enter this strategic partnership with them." said Nick Lambert, managing director, global markets, Cable&Wireless Worldwide, "The ability to demonstrate real business benefits to our customers is a key differentiator for us, and we will continue to invest in solutions and capabilities in the Asia Pacific region including India, which is regarded as a prime region of growth for our company."
