JANUARY 22, 2010 -- Officials of the U.S. Naval Sea Systems Command are getting ready to ask the optical fiber industry to supply 640 feet of M85045/01M fiber-optic cable that meets MIL-PRF-85045/20A and QPL 85045 military standards.

JANUARY 22, 2010 -- Officials of the U.S. Naval Sea Systems Command are getting ready to ask the optical fiber industry to supply 640 feet of M85045/01M fiber-optic cable that meets MIL-PRF-85045/20A and QPL 85045 military standards.

The optical fiber cable is for projects at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, ME. The Navy's official request for quotation will be available online on or about February 3, 2010 at https://www.neco.navy.mil/. The solicitation number is N0018910QPK47.

Portsmouth Naval Shipyard is primarily responsible for the overhaul, repair, and modernization of Los Angeles-class (SSN 688) fast-attack submarines.
