APRIL 14, 2010 -- XO Communications (OTCBB: XOHO) is now offering Carrier Ethernet access to its nationwide Ethernet infrastructure (reaching nearly four million buildings) via its new service connectivity with the CENX Carrier Ethernet exchange (see "CENX takes tips from MEF, opens Carrier Ethernet exchanges"). Connecting with CENX enables the global Carrier Ethernet community connectivity at bandwidths from 3 Mbps to 10 Gbps to locations served by XO.
CENX's connection and integration services are designed to make Carrier Ethernet connection to and from XO Communications' footprint seamless and simple. XO Communications Ethernet services are offered in more than 75 metropolitan cities and to “the vast footprint” where XO delivers last-mile Ethernet over copper. Reaching XO-served locations operating at speeds as low as 3 Mbps opens up large numbers of new economical business service opportunities to customers connected via the CENX exchange, the two parties assert.
"Connecting to the growing number of Ethernet service providers via CENX simplifies complex service-level interactions and allows us to leverage our continuing investment in Ethernet services," said XO's Don MacNeil, vice president of XO Carrier Services Operations. "Key factors in our decision to work with CENX were its expertise, standardized approach to service alignment, and service assurance."
