FEBRUARY 3, 2010 -- Sycamore Networks Inc., a provider of intelligent bandwidth management solutions for fixed line and mobile network operators worldwide, announced that PT Indosat has selected the company’s DNX Multiservice Switching Platform and ENvision Plus Network Management System to scale its network infrastructure in response to growing demand for broadband voice and data services.

PT Indosat, a telecommunication and information service provider in Indonesia, selected the S-DNX multiservice cross-connect system to support service capacity expansion in its access network infrastructure. The Sycamore S-DNX solution, sold through the company’s local distribution partner Nera Telecommunications Ltd., provides service interface density in a compact and expandable bandwidth management system designed for maximum service availability.

The S-DNX is a high-capacity cross-connect that supports up to 2,304 E1 ports, 2,688 T1 ports, 128 E3 ports, 96 T3 ports, 32 STM-1/OC-3 ports, or 2,560 data ports, expanding the overall switch fabric capacity by a factor of four compared to the DNX-88 system.
The S-DNX allows granular growth as the network evolves, says a representative. By adding groups of S-DNX switching and I/O module resources on an as-needed basis, network operators maintain maximum control over how and when they make infrastructure investments. The ENvision Plus Network Management System works with the S-DNX to automate and simplify connection provisioning, improve network resiliency via automated path protection, streamline event and alarm management processes through filtering tools, and provide visual test access and line diagnostics. Other capabilities include multi-level topology views and advanced bandwidth reporting utilities for switch fabric management.
