Osicom Technologies Inc. (Santa Monica, CA) announced that China-based Tangshan Cable Television Network (TCTN) has selected the GigaMux Metro dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) solution to be the foundation for the carrier`s next-generation Internet protocol- (IP-) over-DWDM network. TCTN`s network build-out marks one of China`s first deployments of public video and voice transport using IP over DWDM fiber. An initial order for $2.9 million has been placed in connection with TCTN`s new network, with product shipments and system installation expected in the second quarter of 1999. The contract calls for Osicom`s GigaMux to be used to transmit digital video and IP-based traffic over 13 nodes of TCTN`s multiple-ring fiber network.
