Windstream Wholesale to strengthen fiber-optic transport network at NJFX cable landing station

Windstream Wholesale, the fiber-optic services arm of Windstream, will strengthen its fiber transport network at NJFX's Tier 3 carrier-neutral colocation campus at the Wall, NJ, cable landing station. Submarine cables from the United States, Europe, and South America all meet at the easternmost edge of the U.S., which is the location of the NJFX's facility.

Windstream Wholesale, the fiber-optic services arm of Windstream (NASDAQ:WIN), will strengthenits fiber transport network at NJFX's Tier 3 carrier-neutral colocation campus at the Wall, NJ, cable landing station (see "NJFX touts route diversity across major interconnection points").

Submarine cables from the United States, Europe, and South America all meet at the easternmost edge of the U.S., which is the location of the NJFX's facility. Windstream Wholesale's presence at the facility enables it to securely connect with network providers worldwide, asserts NJFX.

Windstream Wholesale can provide additional support to the North American network with NJFX's Tier 3 facility services and deliver a route that bypasses New York City traffic for efficient connection to Miami, Atlanta, Denver, Ashburn, Chicago, Dallas, Columbus, Los Angeles, and other congested locations. With a presence at NJFX, the company can deliver services to the federal, financial, and the carrier community in a non-competitive, closed environment with direct access to undersea cables that are usually restricted in a cable landing station.

"What Windstream Wholesale offers at the NJFX colocation campus is a reliable, high-quality option for organizations coming in internationally, looking for connectivity options in the U.S," said Joe Scattareggia, Windstream Wholesale's president. "This newest project is an overbuild of a system with newer, updated technology. As a more cost-effective and efficient solution, our customers will now have even greater access to the cable landing station in Wall, NJ. We are building a diverse path—particularly the Ashburn route, which avoids the busy Philadelphia metro—along with an upgrade of existing services, with increased and accelerated installation time frames, resulting in significantly service delivery."

In addition to New Jersey, Windstream has expanded its footprint by enhancing its fiber-optic network and other assets in Georgia, and offering a new southern route from Los Angeles to Dallas (see "Windstream to expand Georgia network" and "Windstream Wholesale to expand fiber network with route from Los Angeles to Dallas").

When integrated with Windstream Wholesale's Software Defined Network Orchestrated Wavelengths (SDNow),the fiber transport network helps enterprise and wholesale customers enable cloud connectivity and set the stage for digital transformation, and is the basis for on-demand services and advanced deployments.
