Edgecore Networks releases new fiber switch series

The 1/2.5/10GbE switches are designed to ensure reliable and scalable network performance.

On December 3, the Accton Technology Corporation subsidiary Edgecore Networks announced the release of its ECS5550 series fiber switches—1/2.5/10GbE Ethernet devices with 100GbE uplinks designed for advanced network aggregation. The company says the switches combine high availability, advanced IPv6 management, security, and multicast control with simplified management.

The series consists of two models, the ECS5550-30X and the ECS5550-54X, with 24 or 48 1/2.5/10GbE SFP+ ports respectively, and six 100GbE uplinks. The company reports that the series is designed for high-bandwidth access, traditional three-tier aggregation, or core and folded-Clos architectures and enables expanded residential and business services.

“The ECS5550 series delivers enhanced security, advanced IPv6 management, and robust multicast features, ensuring reliable and future-ready network performance,” reported Edgecore in a press release. “The security features provide robust protection against potential threats, while IPv6 support facilitates seamless network growth in line with modern infrastructure demands.”
