Vívaro Telecom taps Fujitsu 1FINITY for U.S. ROADM fiber network

May 9, 2022
The service provider will use elements of the 1FINITY line to create a ROADM fiber network between Dallas and McAllen, TX, that will aid high-speed transmission between the U.S. and Mexico.

Fujitsu Network Communications says it has won a contract award from Vívaro Telecom (formerly Marcatel) for delivery of the 1FINITY platform. The service provider will use elements of the 1FINITY line to create a ROADM fiber network between Dallas and McAllen, TX, that will aid high-speed transmission between the U.S. and Mexico.

Vívaro will leverage 1FINITY Lambda blades and 1FINITY T700 transport blades for the colorless, directionless, and flexible-grid ROADM network. The 1FINITY platform can support up to 1.6 Tbps per blade; Vívaro will use such capabilities to support 400G transmissions, Fujitsu says.

The technology supplier says that Vívaro also will use its Virtuora NC software-defined network (SDN) platform for network management.

Vívaro Telecom serves its customers with international telecommunications, IT, cybersecurity, and high-capacity services. It operates ultra-low latency metropolitan and long-distance fiber-optic networks and data centers to support these offerings. “As we strive to connect our carrier and business customers to the most important data centers in the U.S., this new deployment will ensure that our network delivers optimal performance today, and well into the future,” said Gustavo M. de la Garza Flores, CEO of Vívaro. “Working with Fujitsu provides the peace of mind that we are making a smart investment.”

“Based on our history of successful deployments and fast product lead times from Fujitsu, we know that the 1FINITY platform is the best choice for our network, delivering performance, scalability and efficiency in a small footprint,” added Isaías Alegría, director of technology at Vívaro.
