Infinera supplies XTM and GX Series for LONI research and education network upgrade

Infinera (NASDAQ: INFN) says it supplied its XTM Series open line system and GX Series transponders for an upgrade of the statewide Louisiana Optical Network Infrastructure (LONI). The project, which involved the Louisiana Board of Regents, acting on behalf of LONI and the Board of Supervisors of Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College, has seen deployment of the systems and the resultant setup of four 400G optical channels along a 220-mile intrastate route in the state.

The LONI research and education network 38 university campuses and data centers as well as providing connectivity to other research and education networks in other states. The upgrade increases network capacity by a factor of 10. The XTM/GX combination offers 200G/400G/600G now, with an upgrade path to 800G.
