Viettel and Nokia have collaborated on the deployment of 600G DWDM capabilities to enhance the Vietnamese telecom service provider’s data center interconnect infrastructure, according to Nokia. The upgrade leverages Nokia’s 1830 Photonic Service Switch.
The 1830s host Nokia’s PSE-Vs super-coherent optical engines. The company recently announced the next generation of its coherent transmission family, the PSE-6s (see “Nokia unveils PSE-6s super-coherent optical engine for 1.2-Tbps to 2.4-Tbps applications”). The PSE-Vs devices will provide Viettel’s network with 25.2 Tbps of capacity in the C-Band with the potential to double capacity by adding L-Band operation.
“This project is very important to Viettel to fulfil the high demand for transmission capacity which increases dramatically every day,” commented Nguyen Khac Tinh, optics principle architect at Viettel. “By using Nokia’s industry-leading coherent transport solutions, we’ll be able to optimize our cost for both capex/opex and stay secured for future expansion. This is truly a network built not just for today, but for tomorrow as well. We wish to work with Nokia to evolve our network even further. Our network is now ready for 800G and we plan to reach 1 Tbps/channel and beyond.”
