Wavelength-division multiplexer

The 2 ¥ 4 bidirectional wdm for 2-fiber transmit and receive functions over a 30-nm wavelength band at 1310 or 1550 nm. Applications for the inline, all-fiber device include telecommunications, fiber-to-the-home, optical-fiber amplifiers, optical-fiber sensors, cable TV, and test instruments. The device enables interexchange carriers to increase global telecommunications capacity on a single fiber for long-haul access. It is based on the company`s proprietary fused, cascaded-couple technology. Insertion loss is 0.6 dB, and isolation is 34 dB in each receive channel. Insertion-loss polarization dependence is less than 0.15 dB, and directivity is less than 55 dB.
