GiGX Communications selects ADVA for optical transport services
ADVA Optical Networking has announced that GiGX Communications, a privately owned Texas-based provider of metropolitan access services, has selected the ADVA Fiber Service Platform (FSP) portfolio to provide next-generation optical transport services for carriers, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), financial and educational institutions.
"GiGX Communications pursues two core business objectives: To continue providing metro optical transport services in strategic south-central U.S. markets, and to future-proof our network--ensuring availability of massive bandwidth capacity in the metro area," explains GiGX Communications' CEO, Timothy Broadous. "To meet our objectives, we needed to select a stable equipment provider who is also an industry and market leader, and meets the product quality standards of GiGX Communications. ADVA fit the bill. ADVA's carrier-class FSP product line of Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) and Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing (CWDM) infrastructure equipment enables us to deploy an optically stable metro network."
GiGX Communications has already begun deployment of the FSP 3000 for the transport of high quality broadband services up to 300 km. ADVA's Network Planning tool & Network Management system, based on the FSP 3000 and feeder products, simplifies the engineering, installation, and management of optical networks, say ADVA representatives. These tools enabled GiGX to rapidly deploy complex networking systems, while enhancing its operational efficiencies.
