FiberStar has signed an agreement with Nokia to deliver 100-Gbps DWDM capabilities for use in greenfield areas of Java and Bali. The deployments are part of a FiberStar pledge to bring fiber-optic network coverage to more cities across Indonesia by 2019.

Founded in 2014, FiberStar has embarked on an all-fiber network strategy to deliver triple-play services across Indonesia via a network capable of supporting a quad-play service strategy in the future.

"We are committed with our fiber-optic deployment in helping and speeding up the adoption of ICT in boosting the economy in various areas across Indonesia," asserts Thomas Dragono, commercial director at FiberStar. "With our comprehensive market understanding and expertise, combined with Nokia's proven technology, we believe FiberStar can offer the best solution to address the current telecommunications needs, particularly throughout Java and Bali."

"FiberStar can use this deployment as a starting point with 100G technology that can be upgraded in the future to 400G and beyond," notes Robert Cattanach, head of Indonesia at Nokia.

Nokia says the equipment delivery deal also includes a five-year service maintenance contract.
