FEBRUARY 28, 2008 -- China-based photonics designer and integrated manufacturer of optical technologies Photop Technologies Inc. (search for Photop) has launched a new wavelength locker for optical communications.

The locker features extremely low temperature dependence, high accuracy, and wide optical operation power range, says the company. Temperature sensing is also available. The device operates over the C and L bands. The key optic component of the wavelength locker is the etalon, which is made in-house with Photop technology.

The wavelength locker is designed for wavelength monitoring; locking the channel wavelength to ITU-T grid standard wavelength in DWDM systems; laser stabilization for tunable lasers; optical power; and network monitoring.
