Widely tunable lasers power up for narrow-spaced DWDM

Multi-wavelength tunable lasers are spreading from testing and monitoring applications to the replacement of fixed-wavelength lasers, critical to the narrower channel spacing in next-generation DWDM systems.

Driven by demand for broadband access the dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) system market will grow from USD5.5bn to USD17.9bn in 2004, Pioneer Consulting forecast back in February.
