Yenista intros test-and-measurement products with live ECOC demo
SEPTEMBER 14, 2007 — Yenista Optics will showcase its WS40 fast-tunable filter and SA40 8-channel saturable absorber module at ECOC, September 17–19 in Berlin, with live demonstrations of each product. Visit Yenista at Booth 12057.
Adapted for 40-Gbit/sec. testing, the WS40 has a selectable FWHM from 0.3 to 1.0 nm; this allows users to determine optimum filtering bandwidth. FWHM can be modified without changing wavelength positioning. The filter has a tuning range of 90 nm over both C- and L-bands from 1525 to 1615 nm. Tuning speed between arbitrary wavelengths is typically 40 ms. Its PC-based platform interfaces through an 8.4" touchscreen with reportedly intuitive software. Remote control is available via GigaEthernet (RJ45).
The SA40 enhances 40Gbit/sec. transmission — behaving like a non-linear mirror, it provides noise suppression below a power-threshold level which implies regeneration of the zero symbols in the NRZ and the RZ format. Its absorption recovery time is around 5 ps. The product is available as a component equipped with a TEC for external temperature control or as a benchtop unit, with the component temperature-control electronics and eight circulators, one for each channel.
