Transatlantic AEC-2 submarine cable system is now live

The submarine network connects New Jersey and Denmark. It also forms part of what AquaComms is calling the North Atlantic Loop alongside AEC-1, which became ready for service in 2016, and a pair of other undersea cables currently under construction.

Aqua Comms DAC says that its America Europe Connect-2 (AEC-2) submarine cable is now live. The submarine network connects New Jersey and Denmark. It also forms part of what AquaComms is calling the North Atlantic Loop alongside AEC-1, which became ready for service in 2016, and a pair of other undersea cables currently under construction.

AEC-2 is Aqua Comms’ portion of the HAVFRUE system (see “HAVFRUE consortium targets transatlantic submarine cable system”). On the U.S. side, AEC-2 lands at the NJFX cable landing station campus in Wall, NJ, from which it offers connectivity to such major hubs as Ashburn, VA, and 165 Halsey Street in New Jersey. In Denmark, the submarine cable offers connections to Copenhagen in Denmark and the wider Nordic as well as such European markets as Amsterdam, Frankfurt, and Hamburg. Aqua Comms says it will offer wavelength services ranging from 10G, 100G, and 400G via the submarine cable.
