Network services provider PEG Bandwidth says a new 100 Gigabit Ethernet route from Peoria to Chicago via Bloomington and Champaign, IL, is now open for business.

Segments on the approximately 225-mile route include Peoria to Bloomington, Bloomington to Champaign, and Champaign to Chicago. The route offers diversity and redundancy to customers in the region, which PEG Bandwidth describes as possessing "minimal routing options needed to support high availability networks and services."

"By offering a 100G Ethernet route along this route, we are exponentially increasing the bandwidth infrastructure currently in place," states Greg Ortyl, senior vice president of sales and marketing at PEG Bandwidth. "This route will provide rural cable and telecom companies in Illinois the ability to connect to major hubs in Chicago. With this new service, PEG Bandwidth is providing more speed and capacity, thus allowing businesses in these underserved areas to have cost-effective high-speed services, normally only found in Tier 1 markets."

PEG Bandwidth offers a variety of network services, including mobile backhaul as well as wavelength-based offerings (see, for example, "PEG Bandwidth offers more wavelength services").
