APRIL 15, 2009 -- ADVA Optical Networking says that P&TLuxembourg has deployed its FSP 3000 to offer competitive storage services to enterprise customers.
With its huge installed base and experience with the FSP 2000, P&TLuxembourg sought a universal platform that enables the same level of functionality, including high power efficiency, according to the systems vendor. P&TLuxembourg also sought new features that can drive deployments over longer distances using Raman amplification, support transmission speeds up to 40 Gbps, enable network automation via ROADMs, and offer improved security via sophisticated and powerful encryption technology. Important for P&TLuxembourg was also that new equipment be qualified with platforms from all major storage vendors, ADVA Optical Networking adds.
Fully managed from its network operations centre and tightly integrated into P&TLuxembourg's data centre offering, the FSP 3000-based network has drawn numerous customers from sectors like finance, transportation, and public institutions, the systems vendor claims.
Explained Frank Mathieu, head of enterprise solutions at P&TLuxembourg, "It wascritical for our decision-making process that ADVA Optical Networking's FSP 3000 holds all key vendor qualifications in the areas of open systems, including 1-, 2-, 4-, 8- and 10-Gbps Fibre Channel and mainframe applications, including ESCON, FICON, and InfiniBand."
