Everstream launches 5G fiber builds in seven Midwestern U.S. markets

The company says the fiber networks will help to connect more than 2,000 macro cell towers in those markets and offer backhaul support.

Business-only fiber network services provider Everstream says it plans to launch fiber cable deployments in seven Midwest markets to support 5G mobile network requirements. The company says the fiber networks will help to connect more than 2,000 macro cell towers in those markets and offer backhaul support.

The 1,047 route miles of fiber will deploy in Fort Wayne and South Bend, IN; Lexington and Louisville, KY; and Cincinnati, Dayton, and Toledo, OH. Everstream estimates it will spend more than $47 million on the deployments. The fiber builds are part of an initiative to install up to 3,000 new route miles of fiber in the Midwest this year.

“Everstream continues to cement its position as the premier fiber provider in the Midwest,” said Everstream President and CEO Brett Lindsey. “Demand for 5G services is just beginning and will require high-capacity fiber networks to support this growth. By architecting and building new fiber networks in these markets, we will help support the 5G initiatives of wireless carriers and serve enterprises for years to come.”
