June 6, 2005 Chicago, IL -- Anda Networks, a provider of carrier-class, fiber and copper-based access networking platforms, today announced that Group Telecom (a Bell Canada company), Rogers Wireless, and Expedient Communications have deployed the company's EtherTone products, in order to deliver converged broadband data and voice services for customers over standard Ethernet connections.
The three carriers say that deploying the provider's Ethernet access and aggregation platforms (also called micro MSPPs) will allow them to offer managed Ethernet private line services to enterprise customers. Rogers Wireless says the platform will allow it to effectively backhaul wireless mobile traffic across scalable, high-speed Ethernet connections.
Anda says that, through its strong partnerships with all three carriers, its EtherTone platform has been deployed at points-of-presence on networks across North America. The company says the platform is used to connect locations within the same metropolitan area, province, or state, or between the U.S. and Canada. The company says the platform is also useful for providing scalable, on-demand bandwidth for high-capacity wireless backhaul applications.
"We see a developing market need among service providers for carrier-class Ethernet access products over copper and optical fiber transport that have the reliability and efficiency of low-cost Ethernet, and Anda's strategy is to meet this need," remarks Michael Howard, principal analyst at Infonetics Research. "Anda is extending the concept of multi-service migration out to the customer end-point, enabling the transition of frame relay and ATM to a converged MPLS network."
Expedient says it is deploying the company's EtherTone, EtherEdge 4000, EtherReach 2000 series aggregation platforms for its Ethernet Anywhere service, which according to the carrier provides businesses with bandwidth from 5 to 40 Mbit/sec over an Ethernet interface. The carrier says the platform enables one integrated connection that can be used to carry high-speed Internet traffic, and to securely segment private point-to-point connections for applications such as VoIP, video conferencing, and secure e-mail and file sharing, in scalable increments of bandwidth.
"We wanted a scalable and cost-effective way to deliver Ethernet to our customers that typically were not close to or on our fiber network. By using Anda Networks' EtherTone solutions, we can now deliver Ethernet on-demand based solutions with our new Ethernet Anywhere services, which could previously only be served via expensive fiber build outs," explains Mark McGinness, vice president of business development at Expedient. "Anda has created a solution that enables us to economically deliver a service-rich QoS-enabled Ethernet offering with the reliability and performance of traditional private line services."
Anda says its EtherEdge 4000 series edge aggregation system and EtherReach 2000 series platforms gives carriers the ability to offer a variety of data and voice services while using a common network infrastructure. The company says its EtherTone platform delivers business-grade Ethernet with the reliability of traditional private line and/or SONET infrastructure, enabling carriers to offer service level agreements on a per service class basis, using one physical Ethernet connection per customer.
"As more and more customers adopt Ethernet packet-based services, ANDA's EtherTone platforms are critical to our network strategy," continues McGinness. "ANDA's products provide such advantages as cost-effective scalable bandwidth, quicker provisioning, and ultimately allows us to reach both on-net and off-net customers with carrier-class performance."
According to Anda, the platform provides cost-effective aggregation switching and crossconnect for consolidating managed Ethernet private line, transparent LAN, and SAN connections.
"We're excited to see growing business customer adoption for new Ethernet service offerings," concludes Charles Kenmore, president and CEO of Anda Networks.
The EtherTone platform will be displayed at Supercomm 2005 in Anda's booth #82037.
