Hibernia Networks establishes Middle East point of presence in Dubai
Fiber-optic network services provider Hibernia Networks says it has established a point of presence (PoP) in Dubai, UAE.
Hibernia says it located the PoP in one of Dubai's major telecommunications hubs, but did not identify the location further. The PoP offers connections to both the Hibernia network – particularly the Hibernia Express transatlantic submarine network – as well as other networks that serve the Middle East and other locations globally.
Market research firm TeleGeography predicts demand for international bandwidth between the Middle East and North America will grow 39% annually from 2015 to 2022.
"With its strategic location, Dubai is a major international hub for financial markets as well as media and content distribution throughout the region and beyond," states Omar Altaji, CCO of Hibernia Networks. "Hibernia Networks' presence in Dubai confirms our commitment to strategically expanding our global network reach into new geographic locations in order to provide customers with the high-speed, high-quality connections they require around the globe for applications such as split-second financial transactions and live broadcast feeds. We look forward to continued growth in key local and regional markets to better serve increasing global demand for secure and diverse low latency connectivity solutions."
This low-latency aspect could prove important to potential customers.
"Network latency has become a critical performance factor for financial firms, content providers, and cloud computing platforms," stated Erik Kreifeldt, senior analyst at TeleGeography. "These industry segments stand to benefit from the low-latency connectivity option that Hibernia Networks has introduced to and from Dubai."
