Huawei says it will supply its 100-Gbps multi-service Optical Transport Network (MS-OTN) platforms to Korea Telecom. The service provider will use the systems for its metro packet-optical transport network (POTN) project to enable a unified transport platform to deliver a variety of services.
Korea Telecom offers a wide range of service offerings, both fixed and mobile, to residential and business customers. To simply operations, the service provider plans to build a bearer metro network for ultra-HD video, 5G, and high-quality leased-line services using Huawei's MS-OTN packet-optical transport systems.
Huawei says its platforms will offer unified grooming of ODUk, packet, and virtual container (VC) services. They also will support the unified reception and processing of TDM and packet services while adapting to new services such as HD video, mobile broadband, and large-granularity leased-line services. The systems also will support the delivery of on-demand bandwidth resources to shorten time to market and improve operational efficiency.
