Optical transport equipment and software specialist BTI Systems has unveiled the BTI SA-805 service access platform for Ethernet business services and mobile backhaul applications. The MEF 2.0-compliant Ethernet access device (EAD) aims to enable service providers to cost-effectively address the transition to 10G access services.

The BTI SA-805 supports four Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) or 10GbE SFP+ ports and Ethernet switching capacity up to 40 Gbps. It also offers G.8032v2 resiliency, Y.1731 Ethernet OAM, built-in RFC 2544 test, and SyncE and IEEE 1588v2 support. The fan-less EAD offers its 4x10GbE capacity in a conventional GbE NID form factor.

The SA-805 is the latest in BTI’s 800 Series, a line of compact, multiservice, carrier-grade platforms designed to deliver Ethernet-only or Ethernet and TDM-based connectivity for enterprise business and wireless provider mobile backhaul service applications.

"As the leading provider of specialized communications and connectivity solutions for the global capital markets, we are constantly optimizing our network to increase bandwidth, performance and scale," said Tim Carmody, vice president of global engineering at IPC, a global provider of specialized communications services for the financial services community. "Carrier Ethernet access and aggregation are vital to deploying reliable and scalable Ethernet business services. IPC already leverages BTI’s broad portfolio for both metro networking and low-latency Ethernet business services, including most recently the BTI 7800 Series as a 100G core platform. We look forward to further optimizing our 10G Ethernet access and aggregation through the compact and scalable end-to-end packet solutions in the enhanced BTI 800 Series."
