Tellabs (NASDAQ: TLAB) has reached a deal with NEC Networks & System Integration Corp. (NEC Networks & SI) for the sale of the Tellabs 7100 Packet Optical Transport System in Japan. NEC Networks & SI becomes Tellabs’ channel partner for the 7100 packet optical transport system, and will provide sales, system integration, and maintenance support throughout the country.
In addition to sales, Tellabs-trained NEC Networks & SI engineers will install the Tellabs 7100 system. Tellabs says the 7100 system is currently undergoing trials in the network of “a key Japanese data center operator,” in the words of a press release. NEC Networks & SI has also performed its own evaluation tests.
"The Japanese market is an important market for cloud services and other data center applications," said Tomohiro Furuya, managing director of Tellabs Japan. "For companies and operators providing these applications, there are significant benefits to having technology support from a partner like NEC Networks & SI, who has many years of experience in the ICT field and has become a trusted leader. It is an honor that NEC Networks & SI has chosen the Tellabs 7100 system as part of its advanced technology portfolio."
In addition to the Tellabs 7100, NEC Networks & SI also will support the Tellabs 8000 Intelligent Network Manager and Tellabs 7300 Metro Ethernet Switching Series in Japan.
