MAY 28, 2009 -- Enablence Technologies Inc. (search Lightwave for Enablence) has added the ONT-2X1 and ONT-4X1 to its optical network terminal (ONT) product lines that support fiber-to-the-cell tower applications (mobile backhaul). The ONTs support two and four T1 and E1 ports with each port carrying either 24 or 30 channels of digital voice or data. The platforms are designed for deployments for small business premises and applications that require the use of high bandwidth.

The new products leverage PWE3 pseudowire to emulate of a native service over a packet switched network (PSN). The products are designed to handle major communications industry standards. The two new products also are engineered to provide maximum bandwidth efficiency and interoperability, consistent with industry Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) and Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF-8) standards.

"With the introduction of the ONT-2X1 and ONT-4X1 we are able to expand our market reach with increased deployment options for existing telecommunications lines. They are also particularly exciting because they can provide cellular networks that are being upgraded a capability to handle high bandwidth requirements of today's sophisticated phones and an economic way for carriers to increase the bandwidth delivered to their cell towers," said Arvind Chhatbar, CEO of Enablence.
