TelemaxX Telekommunikation GmbH is deploying packet networking platforms from Ciena (NYSE: CIEN). The German data center services provider will use the systems to roll out Ethernet business services in the region around Karlsruhe, where it manages five data centers.

Installed with the assistance of Ciena local partner Kapsch BusinessCom, the packet networking platforms will upgrade the capacity of TelemaxX’s legacy TDM network. The systems include the 8700 Packetwave Platform, 5142 Service Aggregation Platform, 3942 Service Delivery Switch, 3916 Service Delivery Switch, and 3904 Service Delivery Switch. TeleMaxX will use Ciena’s Blue Planet Manage, Control and Plan (MCP) software to manage and provision the systems. Kapsch BusinessCom, meanwhile, will provide operational support.

“As a preferred regional data center provider in Germany for the last 20 years, we understand the importance of staying ahead of demand in order to remain competitive,” commented Dieter Kettermann, managing director at TelemaxX. “Ciena’s broad range of packet networking solutions provides our customers with unprecedented scalability and service agility, as well as a seamless platform from core to access. By selecting Ciena, we are staying ahead of the curve and delivering the data center of the future to meet the quickly evolving needs of our customers today.”
