Traffic engine

The IXIA1600 multiport traffic generator/analyzer is a 16-slot modular distributed architecture product that supports up to 32 Gigabit Ethernet ports, 64 ports of 10/100 Mbits/sec, or a combination of the two in a single chassis. It can be user-configured to generate any kind of Ethernet packet: valid, undersized, oversized, packets with CRC errors, and more. Sequences of packets may be combined into multiple streams with each flow containing unique incrementing, decrementing, or random MAC addresses. On each port, up to 256 different streams of traffic may be defined into a single complex data flow to simulate almost any type of traffic. The inter-packet gap is user-definable in increments of 16 nsec (40 nsec for 100 Mbits/sec), allowing for fine control of traffic density. Bursty traffic may also be sent by controlling burst and stream gaps. Pricing starts at $41,000 for the 16-slot chassis, two Gigabit Ethernet ports, and eight 10/100Base-TX ports.
