Huawei has taken the wraps off the CE9860X, a 128-port 100 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) fixed data center switch that the company asserts provides the highest density of 100GbE ports available. Other attributes of the switch, aimed at small to medium-sized enterprises migrating to cloud services, include high-performance forwarding, flexible line cards, and what the company asserts is a smooth evolution to 400GbE ports in the future.
The 4RU, four-slot CE9860X supports a maximum switching and forwarding capability of 25.6 Tbps. Network operators can combine two CE9860X switches and the required number of 25GbE/10GbE CE6800 series switches to create a spine-leaf network that will serve applications with less than 3000 servers.
"The CE9860X is a new flagship member in the Huawei CloudEngine series data center switch family,” explained Leon Wang, general manager of the Huawei Data Center Network Domain. “CloudEngine series switches have been released for nearly six years and have become one of the products of choice for global enterprises to build cloud data center networks. We believe that the CE9860X will bring belief to many small and medium-sized enterprises and become the best model for them to build cloud data center networks."
The CloudEngine series switches are core components of the Huawei CloudFabric Cloud Data Center Network Solution. CloudFabric elements are in use in more than 6,400 enterprises worldwide, the company claims.
