Netcracker Technology has extended its software-defined networking/network functions virtualization (SDN/NFV) activities by offering the Netcracker Business Cloud, which offers customers turnkey SDN/NFV capabilities via a service Netcracker hosts. The end-to-end service aims to enable network operators without a significant amount of in-house SDN/NFV expertise or who require rapid time to market a way to quickly implement SDN/NFV and thus offer cloud-based services via their networks.

Netcracker Business Cloud offers what the company asserts is a full suite of SDN/NFV capabilities, from virtual network functions (VNFs) to orchestration, OSS, BSS, portals, and a digital marketplace. Customers can take advantage of the full suite or just the elements they require, says the company. Netcracker also offers complementary consulting and go-to-market services.

Customers can implement the service via Netcracker’s cloud, a public cloud service, or a private cloud service. Use of the Netcracker service can speed SDN/NFV implementation by 8X and reduce costs by 10X versus a homegrown approach, the company asserts. The stack is fully open and can accommodate third-party software as well as a carrier’s in-house elements, Netcracker adds.

Netcracker offers a variety of business models, including revenue sharing, for carriers interested in leveraging the service. The company already has customers for the Netcracker Business Cloud, including Telefonica Movistar Mexico. The service provider is using the Netcracker Business Cloud to help deliver its new NextWAN suite of services, which include SD-WAN.
