Endace, which specializes in high-speed network recording, playback and analytics hosting, and test equipment vendor Ixia, a Keysight Business, say they will partner to enable enterprise network customers to better defend against cyberattacks. The companies signed a technology partnership agreement that will see Ixia's Vision line of network packet brokers combined with Endace's EndaceProbe Analytics Platforms.

The companies say their combined technologies will enable enterprise network managers to more quickly detect network anomalies at the packet level that could signal a data breach. The capability encompasses encrypted traffic, thanks to Ixia's Vision ONE, which offers active SSL decryption of encrypted traffic before it is recorded by, and stored on, EndaceProbes. Hosting virtualized intrusion detection systems (IDS) and application or network performance monitoring (NPM/APM) on EndaceProbes enables real-time monitoring of network traffic, say the companies. Customers can create new virtual monitoring applications on EndaceProbes to inspect traffic, decrypted by Ixia, in real time as well.

Ixia and Endace say they have already collaborated on a joint offering for financial traders. Ixia's TradeVision network packet broker can monitor market data feeds from more than 100 exchanges and detect and alert when gaps or delays in market feeds occur. By combining TradeVision with EndaceProbes, market feed data can also be recorded, providing definitive evidence for analysts to troubleshoot any issues that TradeVision detects.

Meanwhile, integration between Splunk and EndaceProbes can improve the efficiency of investigations when market feed errors are detected, say the companies. Analysts can click on a TradeVision alert in Splunk to go directly to the related packet history on their EndaceProbes.
