November 8, 2005 Rochester, NY -- Fibertech Networks, a metro transport provider operating fiber-optic networks in 20 cities throughout the Northeast U.S., has completed a major expansion of its network infrastructure in Connecticut. Following recently signed customer contracts, the company has added nearly 800 mi. to its fiber network in that state, more than doubling its capacity to greater than 1,300 miles over the last two years.

According to Mike Hurley, Fibertech's vice president of sales and marketing, the reasons for the network expansion can be attributed to a combination of operational efficiency and customer demand for an alternative network provider in the area.

"Our value proposition of unlimited bandwidth at a fixed cost over new fiber infrastructure continues to resonate with telecommunications carriers, major healthcare organizations, [and] financial, education, and government institutions throughout Connecticut," says Hurley. "With the lion's share of our expansion completed, we are uniquely positioned as the leading provider of fiber-optic connectivity throughout the state."

The company says its 2005 sales highlights in Connecticut include contracts to connect: long distance carriers, numerous CLECs, and other network transport and wireless providers such as AboveNet, Northeast Utilities, and Veroxity, among others; the State of Connecticutm, to expand the Connecticut Education Network and assist in the development of a K-20 all-optical education network; and Fortune 500 business customers, universities, health care systems, and K-12 school districts, including Yale University, Greenwich Hospital, the City of Norwalk, ChimeNet, Digital Back Office, and others.

Fibertech's Connecticut network extends into Bridgeport, Hartford, New Haven, New London, Norwalk, Stamford, and other cities. The network also extends north from Hartford to Springfield, MA, and southwest from Stamford into White Plains, NY. In addition to its six markets in Connecticut, the company also has networks operational in 14 other Northeast U.S. markets.
