17 June 2002 -- The OPTO 2002 exhibition and convention, dedicated to optical solutions for industry, networking and telecommunications, will take place 22-24 October in the Paris Expo at Porte de Versailles.
This year, in addition to giving visitors the opportunity to get an overview of the most recent technological progress and related services in the field, OPTO 2002 will highlight four major themes that particularly characterize the most promising markets in the optics industry:
- Very high data rate optical networks (LAN, MAN, and WAN), with a special focus on metropolitan area networks;
- MEMS technology for optical telecommunications;
- Plastic fibre optics for increasingly diverse applications; and
- Biophotonics: where optics meets biotechnology - for the health sector.
The 5,000-sq meter show will encompass the entire range of products and services in the optics industry. From very high data rate optical networks, through lasers and industrial laser systems, optical solutions for testing and measurement, optical and optoelectronic components for integrators, nanotechnology, imaging and display, and services, such as training and communications.
The organiser Over 8,000 visitors are expected, mostly from sectors that are major consumers of optical solutions and applications, such as the aeronautics, space, military, automotive, telecommunications, research (industrial and medical, among others), construction and infrastructure, and transport fields.
The optics industry will host the OPTO 2002 exhibition
but there will also be an associated round of conferences - organized by such event partners as Club Optique, GIFO (the French optics manufacturers association), SFO (Societe Francaise d'Optique), Optics Valley, Club Nanotechnologie and the FIA (Fibreoptic Industry Association).
OPTO 2002 will occur in the same place and at the same time as two other major professional events: the brand new MESUREXPO - Exposition de Physique 2002 and Electronics Week 2002.
